China Southern Airlines has received approval from Taiwan Aviation authority to launch 3 direct flight from Urumqi of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region to Kaohsiung of Taiwan. The three direct flights scheduled for 12th, 19th and 26th of March. The airline representative have said that these three flights are already in the system, but not ready for booking since application still in process.
The Urumqi flights goes farthest, and takes about five and half hours. There are also eight other new routes planned for other Chinese cities from Urumqi. They are Hohhot and Hailar of Inner Mongolia, Zhangjiajie of Hunan Province, Lijiang of Yunan, Xining of Qinghai, Yinchuan of Ningxia, and Waihai of Shandong.
Urumqi Diwopu Airport is the international Airport which has domestic flights to all the major cities of China. Internationally, it has flights to Almaty and Astana of Kazakhstan, Bishkek & Osh of Kirgizstan, Kabul of Afghanistan, Baku of Azerbaijan, Istanbul of Turkey, Ashgabat, Dushanbe, Islamabad of Pakistan, Sheremetyevo of Moscow, Novosibirsk, Tashkent of Uzbekistan, Tbilisi, Tehran-Imam Khomeini.
