Growing Number of Wild Animals in Altun Mountain Nature Reserve

The number of wild animals in Altun Mountain Nature Reserve is increasing after the implementing and strengthening of various protection methods by the local government. The reserve has wild yak, Tibetan Wild asses, Tibetan antelopes, snow leopards, argal, brown bears, manul, lynxes and many moreThey are diverse and wildly scattered in the reserve; with the total of 365 species of wild animals at present. They’ve received first and second grade protection by the state government. The number of wild yaks, Tibetan wild asses and Tibetan antelopes, which has reached about 6,000 to 9,000, about 40,000 to 50,000, and nearly 20,000 to 30,000, respectively, according to the Administration of the Altun Mountain National Nature Reserve in 19th of Nov 2010.
The Altun Mountain National Nature Reserve is located within the boundaries of Rouqiang County in the center of Altun Mountain which lies in the border of Xinjiang And Tibet Autonomous Region.
